An amazing opportunity to give an endangered two-ton rhino a pat and make his day with a mix of attention and his favourite food. Accompanied by two of our keepers who will ensure your safety while you meet this gentle giant, feel his lips as he gently takes hay from your hand and his thick hide as he slowly leans towards you to get the maximum benefit of your attention. While one keeper looks after you and the interaction with the rhino, another will be taking photos and providing you with information on this endangered species while also answering your questions.

A truly amazing experience, the grace and beauty of the Rhino, the varying skin textures, the soft cow like mouth and those kind almost puppy like eyes with puppy like behaviour, what a majestic animal. The keepers that looked after us were great, very knowledgeable and showed such a passion and love for this beautiful boy. So wrapped to have this opportunity with my wife. Cannot recommend this experience highly enough. Highlight s that we must do everything we can to stop the destruction of our worlds outstanding wild animal populations before it is all too late.
Thank you so much for the experience, loved your zoo. Loved your Rhino.

What an awesome experience to get so close to the new arrival Kapbamba. I did get a phone call the day before warning the encounter may not happen, as he had only arrived a couple of days earlier and was still getting used to his surroundings. I called the next day about this and next day the staff said “let’s give it a go”. I’m so glad they did. After a cautious start, Kabamba let us feed and pat him which was fantastic. For a Rhino that has had never experience encounters before, this made this more special to be one of the first to meet him close up. The staff are were great, they have so much passion and knowledge. This was a fathers day present from my kids and one I will never forget. He was brilliant and I can’t recommend this enough to do. I shall be back to see him again.

Had an amazing time with Kabamba. Feeding him grass and scratching his ears. Thank you James for answering all my questions and Kaitlin for capturing the moment. A birthday I won’t forget.

Absolutely amazing, we got to pat and feed Pumba on our last visit to the zoo. He is a gentle giant and very keen to be fed his special grass. I could not believe I was actually able to touch his horn and feel his rough mud covered skin. It was a great experience.

We went to the zoo for the first time on 26/8/23 and it was spectacular. We had a rhino encounter and OMG it was just the best thing ever. Will certainly be going back next time we are staying in Halls Gap.
