- Online bookings need to be made 24 hours in advance, for today’s availability please contact the zoo on 03 5356 4668
- Minimum 9 years of age.
- Price does not include general admission but includes photos that we will email to you.
- All encounters are subject to availability.
- All participants must follow all instructions given by Halls Gap Zoo staff, failure to do so may result in a shortened session.
- Participants may be asked to cease the encounter at any time for whatever reason at Zoo staff’s discretion.
- Red Pandas are alpine animals, during hot weather they may choose not to interact with guests.
- Animals respond in different ways to different people and external factors, we cannot control this and experiences may vary.

Girlfriend and I did this and it was great. You sit on a seat and get given some bamboo to feed them, as well as some fruit to hand feed them. Our Red Panda climbed all over us and wasn’t shy at all. Worth the money.

I surprised my son for his 9th birthday with this encounter. He has been obsessed with red pandas for years now and this did not disappoint. We got to sit and feed the gorgeous red panda while he crawled all over us, making himself comfortable on our laps. We felt relaxed and so well taken care of throughout our experience. Thank you for allowing me the chance to give my son the best birthday ever!! This is a truly incredible experience that you guys offer. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.

This was amazing. Our panda was adorable and the keeper very knowledgeable and also took great photos. I don’t normally write reviews but this was worthwhile. Just a heads up – some of the reviews here talk about cuddling and patting the pandas however the keepers mentioned that this could traumatise them; please be careful and follow the instructions of the keepers.

I’ve done this encounter twice now and loved every minute of it both times. For my first encounter I was lucky enough to be able to feed both Red Pandas! They are adorable and will crawl over you and eat out of your hand.

I got my son and I a red panda encounter for Christmas, we had the best animal encounter ever with the adorable Mohan, he was literally eating out of hands and climbing all over our laps, I got the biggest bear hug from son, he said this was the best day of his life.
I would recommend this Awesome red panda encounter.

To have a close encounter with Mohan the Red Panda was the most special, relaxing experience I have had in a very long time. This red panda experience is the best, my husband and I can’t stop talking about it. Jade (the keeper) was friendly and happy to answer any questions. We didn’t feel rushed, the hardest part was resisting the urge to touch the fluff. We loved every minute of them running across us, if you wear short sleeves you will feel the beautiful coat on your arms.

My sister and I absolutely loved our experience meeting beautiful Mohan today. The zoo keeper was very friendly and his photos were great. So much fun to get to interact with a red panda as they are both of our favourite animal. Would definitely recommend for others to do this as well.
