Otter Encounter
Come enjoy a fishy lunch with our cheeky Asian small-clawed otters, in our brand new otter encounter!
Our four girls have the pleasure of enjoying five meals a day, with one of them being fed out by you!
Come behind the scenes into the otter exhibit, where you will tong feed the girls from the safety of our purpose-built encounter platform. You will have the opportunity to spend time feeding our otter girls and learning from our knowledgeable carnivore keeper.
Once the food is all gone, if the girls are still keen you may be lucky enough to hold hands and feel the softness of an otter’s paw as the girls put their hands through the holes built into the encounter platform.

Terms & Conditions
- Online bookings need to be made 24 hours in advance, for today’s availability please contact the zoo on 03 5356 4668
- Minimum 13 years of age.
- Price does not include general admission but includes photos that we will email to you via dropbox.
- All encounters are subject to availability.
- All participants must follow all instructions given by Halls Gap Zoo staff, failure to do so may result in a shortened session.
- Participants may be asked to cease the encounter at any time for whatever reason at Zoo staff’s discretion.
- Animals respond in different ways to different people and external factors, we cannot control this and experiences may vary.
- Refunds for Encounters will only be given if cancellation is within 48 hours of the day of encounter with no exceptions.
- For a cancellation for encounters with more than 48hrs notice from the day of encounter, the options are rescheduling, within three years from the original date of booking, or a refund less a $15 admin fee.
