DistributionOnce widespread over much of eastern mainland Australia, now only found in Tasmania.
HabitatFound in wet sclerophyll forest, woodland, scrubland and agricultural areas.
DietDevils will forage mainly during the night but may be active at dawn and dusk. They scavenge anything of animal origin.
Social InteractionUsually forage alone, several individuals may feed simultaneously on a large carcass which results in much squabbling. They are not territorial and their range may overlap extensively with others.
