Sarcophilus harrisii

Once widespread over much of eastern mainland Australia, now only found in Tasmania.

Found in wet sclerophyll forest, woodland, scrubland and agricultural areas.

Devils will forage mainly during the night but may be active at dawn and dusk. They scavenge anything of animal origin.

Social Interaction

Usually forage alone, several individuals may feed simultaneously on a large carcass which results in much squabbling. They are not territorial and their range may overlap extensively with others.
