Vombatus ursinus
The wombat has coarse, thick fur. Its length is from 90 to 115 cm and their average height is 36 cm. The adult wombat weighs from 22 to 39 kg.
Distribution
Found along the east coast of Australia from southern Queensland to Tasmania with a small number found in south-eastern South Australia.
Habitat
The main habitats are alpine areas, heathland, woodland, coastal, as well as wet and dry sclerophyll forests.
Diet
The Common Wombat emerges at night to feed on native grasses, sedges, rushes, and the roots of shrubs and trees.
Social Interaction
A solitary animal that is often territorial and aggressive.
