Macropus eugenii eugenii

Distribution

This sub-species of the Tammar Wallaby were found on the Yorke Peninsula, Eyre Peninsula, the Mid North and Adelaide Plains, and the Fleurieu Peninsula east to the Murray River.

Habitat

Require dense low vegetation for daytime shelter. Tammar wallabies inhabit coastal scrub, heath, dry open forests and thickets of mallee scrub and woodland.

Diet

Feed in open grassy areas after dark, returning to their shelter before dawn.

Social Interaction

Each individual has a defined home range which overlaps the home ranges of others. Though they may feed in the same area, no social grouping has been observed.
